06 Jul Just Chilling on July 4th!

Happy Birthday, AMERICA!

Just like last year, we spent some relaxing family time at Marine Country Mart! We hit up the same spot — Hog Island Oyster Co. — and pretty much ordered the same food as last year. (Check out last year’s post here.) Honestly, nothing beats ice-cold, creamy oysters on a hot summer day. It’s refreshing and screams “boujee self-care” and “celebration.”
I wish I could just guzzle three dozen oysters by myself, but we’re not on that kind of budget haha. Do you love oysters like I do, or are they not your thing? I definitely want to try their baked oysters next time — I love their menu and we really indulged.

After that delicious lunch, we strolled through the shops, grabbed coffee, and shopped some more. I’m obsessed with this shopping area — they’ve got the cutest, curated shops that feel so elevated. Even the flower bouquets sold there are top-tier — you can’t find stuff like that just anywhere. In the middle of the shops, there’s a little playground area where we let Katya run around with other kids. Luckily, we had a few quarters with us, so she also got to go on a mini ride — and she was absolutely ecstatic!

Unlike last year, we didn’t head to the county fair for fireworks. We wanted a more chilled afternoon and decided to avoid the crowds. We headed home mid-afternoon and went to our nearby Meadow Homes Park to cool off. Katerina loved the splash area — she was totally soaked and laughing the whole time. Core childhood memory unlocked haha.

After some fun in the water, we had dinner at home and watched the neighborhood fireworks. We didn’t do anything big this year, but honestly, it was the chill 4th of July we needed — just good food, good vibes, and family.
