15 Aug Maternity Photoshoot in Truckee Pt.1

Annie did it again! This was my fifth photoshoot with her—she even photographed my first pregnancy. Every time I want to capture an important moment in beautiful nature, I ask Annie to document it for me. She shoots in the Tahoe/Reno area, where the scenery is always breathtaking.

This maternity shoot around Tahoe held extra meaning because I chose “Tahoe” as my son’s middle name. The place is stunning, with so many outdoor adventures to enjoy. Tahoe has always been special for Erik and me since the early days of our relationship, and I want our son to grow up embracing everything Tahoe offers, especially the outdoorsy lifestyle. So, it only made sense to do this photoshoot here. Technically, it was in Truckee, but the backdrops are just as gorgeous—and so close to Tahoe.

This time, I brought a bunch of props, including clothesline and tiny baby clothes. Hanging up those little outfits made everything feel so real—that I’d be meeting my baby boy so soon. On the day of the shoot, I was at the very end of 35 weeks pregnant (35 weeks and 6 days). Since I delivered Katya at 37 weeks and 1 day, the reality that I could meet my son at any moment felt so surreal. The last time I did a maternity shoot with Annie, Katya arrived just four days later, so it brought back a lot of memories.

This was my final maternity shoot of this pregnancy, and I’m so glad I did it. Now that he’s here, I’m soaking up all the newborn cuteness—and I know I’ll cherish these photos forever.
