7 Months with Maverik

Maverik started the second half of his journey to one! This was such an eventful month for our family, and we were very busy enjoying and documenting every moment.

As for events in February, we had my 33rd birthday, Valentine’s Day, and our 7th wedding anniversary! I’m grateful to see another year and to have an additional family member, Maverik, who is healthy and happy which is what I wished for last birthday, so I feel blessed.

For Valentine’s Day, of course I had to do a photoshoot for Maverik and recreate the same look of Katerina when she was a baby. I will share the picture when I come around to it or you can see it on my Instagram page! The kiss mark on his chunky body is just extra sweet! With having an infant, celebrating Valentine’s Day and wedding anniversary just two weeks apart is definitely challenging, but I’m grateful there are family members willing to watch kids so we can have some time for ourselves.

I don’t have an official 7-month measurement this month since I decided to stop doing unofficial weigh-ins after one of them was off by 2 pounds. We’ll wait for his 9-month appointment to get the real numbers. While my back is definitely feeling every pound of Maverik these days, I can’t help but hope for even more adorable rolls and chunky baby goodness.

We continue to feed him baby food, and now he can eat a whole jar a day! He seems to be getting the concept of eating from a spoon and has become less messy compared to the beginning. Now most of the food ends up in his tummy, not on the highchair.

Not all, but some of the foods he has tried are pumpkin, prunes, apples, blackberries, pears, sweet potatoes, and bananas. Since we changed to some solid foods, the amount of diaper blowouts has significantly decreased, like maybe we only had one this month. Thanks to thicker poop!

His sleep is still horrendous, and he still wakes up frequently at night. We were suspecting teething, but there are no teeth in sight yet. He sure does like to chew on everything and his favorite is his munchkin spoon. He steals it from us while we’re feeding him and chews on it. When he’s fussy, I just hand him a spoon and he can calm himself down with it. Maybe teeth are coming soon?

This month, he checked off two milestones on the CDC Milestone App:

  • Bangs two things together
  • Looks when you call his name

He hasn’t started crawling yet, but he’s definitely trying! Whenever he’s on his tummy, he looks like he’s swimming and doing everything he can to move forward. He can now transition from a sitting position onto his tummy all by himself, which has made him much more mobile. When he’s on all fours, he’ll rock back and forth like he’s getting ready to take off, but eventually he gets tired and flops back onto his tummy. We think crawling is right around the corner, and we can’t wait to see it happen!

To Maverik,

Fatima
